I also watched a lot of memories and interviews with Holocaust Survivors, but Helen's story hit me incredibly strong. This Brave Woman told it so vividly, so detailed, so emotionally that her emotions touched me so deeply that I got chills. However bad and inappropriate it may sound, with all due respect to all those who gave their lives in the extermination camps, Helen's story is better listened to than any film on this subject could convey. It made me move to pre-war Krakow, to the ghetto, to the camp, to Goeth's villa. It was incredibly vivid. And this awareness, surprise, that She was Helen Hirsch's companion in misery, whose story we learned thanks to Schindler's List. An amazing Woman. Unique. Dividend. So Good. Peace to Her Soul❤😢

In his testimony, Dr. Schillinger mentions he was on a train that was stopped near Magdeburg, Germany. There is a book called A Train Near Magdeburg A Teacher's Journey into the Holocaust by Matthew Rozell that describes the journey of the people who were moved away from the Bergen Belsen concentration camp in cattle cars at the end of the war.

I think you had the best parents ever. You are material and all you want is what you call other Jewish Family’s have move and don’t have to struggle like your parents. What an amazing man, may he rest in peace now. It was one of the most touching survivor interviews I’ve seen. His story telling and personality are amazing. His life story is truly inspirational. He said many things that inspired me even if these are my so called first world everyday problems that seem pathetic compared to his struggles. I’m so sorry for what he went through. I’m Hungarian and this is one of the biggest shames of our history that this happened to people in our country. I can’t even imagine what he went through and how hard was to talk about it. My great grandpa was a soldier in WW2 fighting against the Russians, he was captured and spent 5 years in a labor camp, they kept them even after the war ended. My family said he never spoke of what happened ever, but he always licked the plates completely clean after eating. I’m 27 years old now and I consider myself to have a safe and privileged life, even if we have our everyday troubles now. I wish there was no war ever again and people learnt to live in peace with and helping each other. It’s very sad that even as I’m writing this there are several wars in the world. I hope my generation will raise children who never have to experience such things and we learn from the past.

He seems to be a nice man, but he had a childhood that was mostly void of Judaism. I am Reform, by the way. I go to synagogue every week for Shabbat. I celebrate all Jewish holidays. I do not eat pork. We are not in the same category. I am not assimilated. But I respect this man as a person.

I listen to these Holocaust accounts because their therapeutic effects are more valuable than gold. Whatever traumatic events that occurred in my life pale in comparison with what these dear individuals endured at the hands of people who were admired, envied, and called "cultured.". As a person of African ancestry, slavery was horrendous, and I hope the Jewish people, those of them who are compassionate, will understand what our people endured for hundreds of years.
